PÉDAGOGIE & OBJECTIFS DES PROGRAMMES DE LA MATERNELLE
Based on the new French program, the program is applied in French and English equally by following the 5 areas of learning of the official program recommended by the French Ministry of National Education.
The 5 areas of learning:
Mobilize language in all its dimensions
This area takes into account the learning of writing and the development of speaking. For the oral, the objectives to be achieved at the end of the program are:
- Dare to enter into communication
- Understand and learn
- Exchange and reflect with others
- Start thinking about language and acquire phonological awareness
- The acquisition and development of phonological awareness
- Awakening to linguistic diversity
For writing, the objectives are as follows:
- Listening to writing and understanding
- Discover the function of writing
- Start producing writing and discovering how it works
- Discover the alphabetic principle
- Start writing on your own
- Word writing essays
- The first independent productions of writings
Act, express yourself, understand through physical activity
This area takes into account the development of the practice of playful physical and artistic activities to contribute to the motor, sensory, emotional, intellectual and relational development of children. Children will learn to:
- Act in space, in time and on objects
- Adapt your balances and movements to various environments or constraints.
- Communicate with others through expressive or artistic actions.
- Collaborate, cooperate, oppose
Act, express yourself, understand through artistic activities
This domain refers to the visual arts, the sound arts and the performing arts. Regarding plastic and visual productions, children will learn throughout the program to:
- Draw
- Practice decorative graphics
- Make plastic, flat and volume compositions
- Observe, understand and transform images
- Explore the sound universe
- Play with your voice and acquire a repertoire of nursery rhymes and songs
- Explore instruments, use the sounds of the body
- Refine your listening
- Practice some performing arts activities
Build the first tools to structure your thinking
Three main objectives are rigorously pursued:
- Expressing quantities: numbers are worked on in composition and decomposition.
- Stabilize knowledge of small numbers through multiple manipulations: giving, showing, evaluating.
- Use number as position memory
- Particular attention is paid to the acquisition of the oral sequence of word-numbers, from writing numbers with digits, to counting
- Express the quantities
- Count
- And finally explore shapes, sizes, organized suites
Explore the world
First, this category includes tracking in time and space by learning to:
- Stabilize the first time marks
- Introduce social benchmarks
- Consolidate the concept of chronology
- Raise awareness of the concept of duration
- Experience the space
- Represent space
- Discover different environments
As a second objective, this area of learning invites children to explore the world of living things, objects and matter:
- By recognizing the main stages in the development of an animal or a plant, in a situation of observation of reality or in an image.
- By exploring the material for example to know how to choose, use and know how to designate tools and materials adapted to a situation, to specific technical actions (bending, cutting, gluing, assembling, operating …).
- By learning to use, make, manipulate objects
- Using digital tools like the camera, tablet, and computer.
Pedagogy of the nursery
Our nursery educational program always follows the American model of creative pedagogy called “creative curriculum” which has been developed around 6 objectives to allow your child a full development according to their centers of interest. Each day is rich in activities organized around a theme that children will discover each week. Among the different themes that children will have to explore are: cleanliness, sharing, ocean animals, gardening, colors, baby animals, numbers …
Develop language
- Learn to communicate better with others and to enrich your vocabulary.
- Develop vocabulary with educational activities where children learn different words and concepts.
Stimulate the intellect
- each your child to develop his intellect from an early age by exploring the concepts of cause and effect, with logic games or memorization.
- Also offer a variety of materials of different colors, sizes, textures and shapes to their discovery
- Encourage the use of the five senses in each activity.
Develop social ties
- Develop social bonds, and trust with others.
- Encourage team games, which allows your child to develop his interpersonal skills.
- Also teach him to make friends and we instill in him the notions of sharing.
Cultivate a healthy body and good motor skills
- Instill good notions of hygiene and nutrition, a taste for sport and physical activities. We respect each child’s individual needs for sleep and nutrition while gradually teaching them to keep up with the group.
- Instill the concepts of sport from the age of 3 months with discovery sessions in the baby gym and from the age of 1 with mini football and mini basketball sessions, for example.
Develop creativity and imagination.
- Help your child develop their creativity and imagination.
- Encourage imitation and imagination games and we encourage the promotion of self-expression through drawing, painting, singing and music.
Encourage autonomy
- Encourage your child to be independent and learn to do the most things on their own. We always leave room in the schedule for free activities where the child will choose the activity of his choice.
